Update: I’ve made the post PG friendly if you were wondering about the title and blurred out bottle.
I decided to stray away from the assortment of beers that I said I would review back in this post. I’ve wanted to try this beer and finally came across it today while it was on sale – tough decision to purchase.
Appearance: This beer pours a deep brownish-red with a frothy off-white head that sticks around for a while.
Smell: Strong roasted aroma with some citrus and hops.
Taste: This beer is lightly carbonated yet it still seemed somewhat thick – maybe that’s due to all the flavors. It is surprisingly smooth and easy to drink despite it being such a strong ale (7.2%). You immediately get hit with citrus grapefruit, toasted/roasted flavors, and malt. This is quickly followed up by a tidal wave of hoppy goodness to finish it out. The aftertaste is hard to explain, dare I say…chocolaty?
Overall: This has turned out to be one of my favorite beers ever. I was about to say this beer is not for the faint of heart. However, my mom enjoyed it and Baileys usually tops out her scale for alcoholic beverages. So if you can’t take it – man up. For our lady readers that don’t like it – welp…I suggest Bud Light Lime (not knocking BLL by any means) since manning up would be a little weird.
P.S. I’m new to this whole beer review thing; bring on the constructive criticism please.
